Neral to Matheran by Taxi or Train
- Once you are at Neral station, you can reach Matheran by train or taxi.
- You can book the Matheran Toy Train tickets in advance from Mumbai or Pune. At Matheran or Neral the booking starts 45 minutes before departure
- Matheran Toy Train will take around 2 hours to reach Matheran and it will drop you in the Matheran City.
- You can reach Matheran by taxi from Neral Station.
- A taxi from Neral to Matheran takes about half hour to reach till Dasturi Naka.
- You can reach from Dasturi Naka to Matheran by walking or can hire a horse.

Local Transport in Matheran!
Horses and hand-pulled rickshaws are the only transport options in Matheran. From the Dasturi car park, it’s a 45-60 minute walk to the centre, or you can hire a horse. Walking is quicker than being pulled along in a rickshaw.
Horses can be hired for around Rs.250 per hour or they may provide you 2-3 hours signtseeing package.
